Cobram Cup Aerotow 2014

Posted on Feb 18, 2015 in Event Reports

After another great Cup weekend, I did a small write up of the weekend and collected a whole lot of images from various people: In its seventh year, the “I Soar Cobram” event has now grown to be the largest scale soaring event in Victoria and standing shoulder to shoulder with the largest events in Australia. Over the 4 days (and for some, 5 or 6), we get to see a range of scale sailplanes, tow planes, and this year was also a great example of changing weather conditions as well… Check out the full article of The Oz Scale Soaring website....

Cobram Scale Aerotow 2013

I look back on the weekend with withdrawal symptoms wishing I was still there. It’s been a while since I have had such a great weekend of flying, fun and camaraderie. The forecast for the weekend was for crisp cool air in the morning building up to warmer air with a top of 17deg for Saturday 18deg Sunday and 18deg for Monday with some high level cloud passing through.  As I’m only newbie to the whole scale aero towing scene I wasn’t sure...

The weather forecast was abysmal. But with optimism bubbling in abundance, we ventured up the Hume Hwy for the 2010 Cobram scale aerotow. It’s a wonderful part of the country with recent rains turning the countryside a lush green colour, and this weekend was forecast to be mighty wet. Saturday saw a few showers, and we mainly sat round and chatted about all the problems of the world, solving most, but forgetting to tell people about the solutions. Just as we left Saturday, a dark squall came through and dumped 35mm of rain on the field overnight. Camping at the field was more boating than camping, but everything survived. Sunday dawned and in Cobram, you could see blue fluffy skies on one side of town and black/grey skies on the other – rather surreal really. It also provided our...
